Glorified Version of A Stranger

For the first time in a weekday, I woke up to your smile.

I never realized how tired I was until after I woke up. Deep sleep it was, yes. I cannot recall if I dreamt, but I’m pretty sure that I did, and whatever it was, it was really good as I felt better when I woke up (save for the runny nose and the itchy throat).

I cannot remember when I last felt this way. It’s as if electric currents pass though my being as we kiss, or as we embrace, or even just by your mere tender touch. The touch of your skin on my skin, of things left unsaid passing with the saliva, passing through the body heat, passing through the beating of this muscular organ that we call the heart.
I remember myself saying that never again should I fall in love the way I did with XX, but here I am, facing the same situation, probably with more intense feelings, probably willing to risk more than I should. I remember back then, when I said bahala na… ang importante yung ngayon… I think I’m saying those words again now.

Never mind the past. I know that I learned a lot from them. Never mind the future, because one cannot stop the future from happening.

Focus on the now, the present, the current. We never know when we are to return to dust, but I will be glad to do so, as long as you hold my hand and look me in the eye while the wind breezes right through me.

Yes! I would like that, but before that happens, I would very much like to be in a pool with you, with the stars blanketing us, with your body close to mine, admiring the heavens for their beauty, arguing whether we are actually seeing the Big Dipper or Orion’s Belt, shivering in the cold, cold night, but nevertheless enjoying every moment because we are together.

We don’t need to say anything. It’s as if we understand each other simply by feeling or sensing each other’s presense. Oh, but I think I’m falling. I’m glad that I am, and I’m glad that it’s with you.

So as I was saying, I woke up to your smile. It simply tells me that today will be a good day for me. Because I woke up to your smile. Because we are together. Because…
