Momoko
While my friends were hapilly enjoying their nightlife in San Diego, ermmm MegaMall, Nina and I spent our Saturday lying around and watching movies. If there were such a term, we wouldn’t be called couch potatoes, but bed potatoes.

We went to Makati Cinema square and scored a few CD’s and DVD’s. We watched three movies: The Unbearable Lightness of Being, Blood Diamond, and Maid Service. These three titles are all part of different movie compilations. We bought 4 compilations in total, each DVD containing 8 different films, plus a Hentai CD with 6 titles included. I also had the chance to secure my copy of Adobe Premier and the expansion CD of Diablo 2, which is The Lord of Destruction. Okay kill me now for buying pirated versions.

The Unbearable Lightness of BeingThe Unbearable Lightness of Being is about the life of Tomas, a promiscuous young doctor (utterly successful) who has issues sticking to one partner. He has a girlfriend called Sabina, who I think is the most compatible to him sexually. He marries Tereza, whom he meets in a spa in rural France. What makes it all worse is that France is invaded by the USSR. Their tumultous environment, plus their tumultous feelings makes this movie tumultous in all its complexity.

Blood DiamondBlood Diamond stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Connelly and Djimon Hounsou. Nina’s a big fan of Leo so we instantly agreed to watch Blood Diamond (among the 30 other films available :P). The movie’s title’s about well, blood diamonds. Simply put, these are diamonds mined in war zones in Africa and sold in order to finance revolutions all over the world. According to Wikipedia, the film was nominated for five Academy Awards including Best Actor and Best Supporting actor. After watching the movie, my first reaction was, crap, he died again, just like he did on Titanic. Hemingways, I agree with Nina that he really is a good actor. Just don’t get her started on Leo. She’ll drone on and on and on and on and…… you get the drift.

Maid ServiceNina and I seem to have a lot of trouble agreeing which movie to watch. The same is true when we select movies to see in the big screen. We have totally different tastes in movies, but we certainly agree on The Matrix, The Lord of the Rings, and Spiderman. What’s curious is that we sometimes agree in hentai. Well, she doesn’t like the ones with monsters. She wants the ones that are as close to reality as possible. Maid Service is one of them. Although the story sounds a bit far from reality (in terms of the plot), it’s kinda cool. It’s about Momoko, an orphaned highschool girl (i’m not gonna say that she’s cute because generally they all are :P), who’s taken in by would-be do-gooder Takaaki, who turns out to be a twisted, carnal, sex maniac. She agrees to work for the guy as a maid, not knowing his hidden agenda. Takaaki blackmails her by stealing her ring, which was a keepsake of her mother. If you think that things couldn’t get any worse for Momoko, in comes Lulu who happens to be Takaaki’s childhood friend, and is very much inlove with him. Momoko finds herself accosted by two unknown boys and is raped in the school bathroom. There are three main characters in Part 1: Momoko, Mana, the student council president and Chika, a girl from a different class. Takaaki manages to blackmail Mana into being her S&M slave by catching a picture of the president shoplifting. Chika is on the otherhand, in the same shit as Momoko.
