Blog: On Comfort Zones

Written on 4/30/2007 – 5:52 pm | by keysinunez.com | 2,670 Views

Sleeping on the job?While the highclass, filthy rich are getting their New York wrinkle treatments, most of the people in Third World Countries are either starving to death or about to starve to death. It’s sad that most of these people don’t really care about what happens to the people in the world or their environment. As long as they’re well in their comfort zones, they will do nothing.

I know this for a fact. Why? Because I am like them. No, it’s not because I’m filthy rich. :lol: It’s because I to will not budge as long as I’m in my comfort zone. I mean, what’s the point of bothering when you know that you won’t make a difference? It’s not that I don’t care, but heck, I have enough problems as it is. I’ll join in on the mass rally when there are already a lot of people giving a shit, because then, I know that it’ll make a difference, and that my voice will also count. Selfish asshole huh? :lol:

But you see, a philisopher once said that this is called self-preservation. Wikipedia defines this as:

…a part of an animal’s instinct that demands that the organism survives. Pain and fear are parts of this mechanism. Pain causes discomfort so that the organism is inclined to stop the pain. Fear causes the organism to seek safety and may cause a release of adrenaline which has the affect of increased strength and heightened senses such as hearing, smell, and sight.

Some people would reason out that we’re not animals. To these people, I would say ________ *silence*. I refuse to say anything because then this topic would bore the shit out of me. I don’t like arguing about these things especially if there’s no alcohol involved.

Blech. =P

Isn’t it human nature to save one’s ass before saving others? Is it wrong to prioritize one’s self?

You see, the Philippine Government is overflowing with self-preservation. This is why most of the politicians out there pocket millions of pesos from projects. Why not? They’re only thinking of themselves~ Besides, they have to think of themselves and their families first before thinking about others. Right? ~_~ They’re only human, right?

:lol:

Oh and one last thing, who the fuck is that Congressman in the picture? I just googled philippine congress and his image came up.

    Who would wanna go out of their comfort zones?

    Yeah, there are those who say they love to risk going out of their comfort-what-have-you but crap, that's what gives them security too, in a weird kinda way.

    *yada-yada-yada* And on with my pointless rambling.

    hmmm... well, they are probably just afraid of facing changes in their lives.. major changes.

    i dunno who that congressman is, but he's sure bored with his job. he's probably rich, he doesn't have to work his @$$ off anymore.

    I stopped feeling/being messianic a long time ago. I feel guilty about not helping out with the less-fortunate, but self-preservation outweighs that guilt :D
