Blog: I tried overclocking my PC!

Friday, June 1st, 2007 | 1,146 Views

OverclockingThis morning, when I arrived home, I played around with my BIOS for bit, thinking that I could somehow overclock with a few BIOS tweaks. Bad idea! After saving my changes and restarting Sofie (yes, my computer, among other things, has a name), I got NO POST. LOL Just one long-assed beep. It’s gotta be memory right? So I reseated my two memory modules and powered up. Yay! I’m back up, but it’s detecting only my processor. No nothing beyond that. Irritatated at the thought of reopening my CPU, I hastened and reseated my memory modules again and was about to screw the cover back on when I remembered that I’d been putting off fixing my CD-RW drive, so I unplugged the cables to my drive and proceeded to tear it’s guts out.

After completely dismantling the cover and the bezel for the CD-RW drive, i found a big-assed piece of a broken CD. LOOOOOOOOOOOOOL! Let me tell you the story of how a CD shattered inside the drive. (more…)

News: Gormful Releases Gormspace 1.0 - Wordpress Theme

Wednesday, February 28th, 2007 | 742 Views

My friend over at Gormful.com, Will, has just released Gormspace 1.0, a theme based on the Undersigned’s Whitespace Theme. Somehow, I can’t help but blame myself for the early release. I kinda posted a comment where the error message displayed the theme’s name. Sorry man. :) (more…)

On Technorati, Linux Ubuntu, and Project MAKYU

Wednesday, October 25th, 2006 | 1 Views

For some reason, Technorati is not receiving my pings. Am I blocked? I just logged in a few minutes ago and found out that the last update that they have on my blog was 58 days ago, when I posted Part 1 of The Parting. WTF’s going on? :-\

Anyway, I just received the Linux Ubuntu CD’s I ordered a couple of weeks ago. As usual, I had to claim it personally at the Makati post office. I was stupid enough not to read the notice that they were open only from 8am-12nn and 1pm-5pm. I got there at 12:15pm. And so I was forced to walk all the way to work under a slight drizzle. Pffft.

Last update: Project Makyu changes its looks! After more than a dozen choices, Dianne and I finally agreed to use the ‘Water-10‘ theme. It isn’t minimalist as I would like it to be, but heck, it looks clean and orderly enough. Plus, there’s this space for ads. As Caloyski retorted this just afternoon, Bat walang ads yung makyu? Sayang ang hits!

Sofie is Sick

Friday, January 27th, 2006 | 432 Views

She is. I was just running a few tests and playing a few games when Sofie just quit and rebooted. She never completed the reboot process. She just gave out a long beep followed by two short beeps.

See, I knew that something was wrong with her. She gave out symptoms of this, but I ignored them. I thought, Sofie’s barely 2 months old. THere shouldn’t be anything wrong with her.

Now she won’t even startup. I’ve considered opening her up but I’d be compromising her warranty, so tomorrow, first thing in the morning, I’ll be taking her to the hospital. Fcuk. This sucks.

20 Hours & Counting…

Tuesday, December 20th, 2005 | 369 Views

I’ve been awake for 20 hours and counting! What have I been doing, you might ask. Why, updating my computer of course! My baby has been in dire need of updates and tonight, I mean last night was the night that she had her wish. Of course, I wasn’t just updating the computer all night long. Nancy, kept me company. She had me do Photoshop editting for her erhmmm… mushy stuff! I’d love to post them here but she’d kill me. Anyway, I’m proud of our work. In the end, self-study always pays.

Oooh, and speaking of self-study, I already have Ubuntu installed on my baby. Yeah! Although I have to admit, I can’t get it to connect to the Internet just yet. I can’t find the damn PPP window. Mahros has been actively helping me find a way, although I suspect that the problem may be with the modem driver. Some website offered drivers but only for a 14kbps connection. Dialup is slow as it is, and 14 kbps will give me what? .3bps download speed? :D Jek doesn’t want DSL yet. Obviously we cannot afford it…. just yet. :)

I already downloaded a few ebooks, and pestered a few people as well. pcp said to RTFM and RTFMA. I guess I’ll be doing that tonight. No work tomorrow! Ack! X_x I have work today, and here I am blogging like some damn insomniac.

*sigh*

My Baby

Wednesday, December 14th, 2005 | 482 Views

The first post using my Baby. Ahhh!!! The effin updates are taking forever to finish. It doesn’t matter coz my chat life is catching up on me.

I love your performance, your Mac OS X-esque look, and everything, well not everthing that I like, but it’s almost a high-end machine, and besides, I worked my ass off for this.
